Advantages of Using a Garden Box

04/28/2011

Various studies have shown that raised garden beds produce 1.4 to 2 times as much vegetables and flowers per square foot as ordinary beds. Raised beds tend to drain excess moisture and they also help plant roots breathe. Your gardening season may even be prolonged as the garden boxes tend to warm up sooner in the spring and continue to produce until later in the fall. Part of the reason for more productivity is the advantage of planting your plants closer together, because with the box you don’t need places to step. (Side note: Don’t go overboard and crowd your plants, however). Just like any garden be sure to apply your water and fertilizer accordingly. With the garden box, gardening has never been easier, and it saves so much time and effort. Make it family time and build your kit together, it’s simple and fun. With redwood garden boxes, you can plant veggies year-round, too. Get out there and get to it!
