Review of Trex Decking Cleaner Bought From J&W Lumber

I had an older couple call me with a 500 square foot Trex Brasilla deck. They saw the decking article in the San Diego Union-Tribune about deck maintenance and desperately needed to have their 4-5 year old deck cleaned.

I cleaned the deck today using the Composite deck cleaner from J&W Lumber. One of the managers at the El Cajon store asked if I would give some feedback on the product when I bought it yesterday. I was very impressed with the cleaner to be honest. I have found over the years most products like this really are ineffective. This one really did a fine job.

I believe it is imperative that the directions be followed very closely when mixing… DO NOT ADD MORE than 5 gallons of water to a container of cleaner. I used a chemical resistant electric agricultural sprayer to apply the cleaner. I would spray a 100 square foot area and then clean it BEFORE the cleaner dries. I would also keep the area wet with an occasional wet down with more of the cleaner.

All-in-all, the deck turned out extremely well. The owners were very happy.
